Ace Basin Basic Element Graduates All Members
On 7 March 2023, the Ace Basin Composite Squadron held their first Basic Cadet program. The Deputy Commander of Cadets, SSgt Ed Farr, along with C/SMSgt Kaytie Schweitzer and C/CMSgt Kai Schweitzer, colluded to design the program for new cadets. C/SMSgt Schweitzer stated the program "is designed to get cadets through their Curry achievement in 3 weeks. It's step-by-step learning for new cadets and is more interactive working as a cohort than individually."
New cadets learned proper wear of the uniform, basic drill, how to utilize the wingman program, and much more in their first three weeks. In addition to completing online learning modules, they also passed a drill test, their first physical training test, and the recitation of the cadet oath.
On 28 March 2023, SSgt Farr stated that while the program is still going through its trial-and-error phase, he is pleased with the success it has shown for the newest cadets. "On 7 March 2023, we started with seven active participants in the Basic Cadet program. By March's promotion night on 28 March, all seven of those cadets have met all the requirements to promote to Airman and have completed their first achievement with the Civil Air Patrol. They learned a lot. I am proud of them, and I look forward to seeing them all succeed."
Cadets that made up the March 2023 Basic Element Class include C/Amn J. Peterson, C/Amn J. Williams, C/Amn E. Heatherly, C/Amn S. Brandt, C/Amn E. Bolukbasi, C/Amn A. Beach, and C/Amn A. Smoak. Congratulations cadets!
The Basic Element program begins on the first Tuesday of every other month. A new Basic Element is planned to begin in June. Any cadets interested in joining the program are encouraged to visit meetings in the month of May to become acquainted with the program and the squadron.
In addition to the first successful Basic Element program, cadet K. Schweitzer was also promoted to C/SMSgt.
