ACE Basin Composite Squadron honored with quality cadet unit award for 5th year in a row!
The ACE Basin Composite Squadron received the 2023 Quality Cadet Unit Award for the 5th year in a row! “Any cadet unit that displays strong programs fundamentals can earn” this award, which is intended to “identify squadrons that are flourishing.” The ten objective criteria used to evaluate squadrons for this award cover diverse measures of squadron success including: cadet enrollment, orientation flight participation, cadet promotions, emergency service training, aerospace education activities, community service and senior member progress.
The ACE Basin Composite Squadron meets every Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Cottageville. Demonstrating the value of their commitment, some members drive from as far as an hour away to be a part of this Squadron. Through the squadron’s mix of leadership training, character development, aerospace education, physical fitness, and a variety of other activities, most of which are led by the cadets themselves, the ACE Basin Composite Squadron is doing its part to train the next generation of leaders in our communities, state and nation.
If you or your children are interested in joining, please know that you will find a warm welcome so come and judge for yourself. In order to become a member, you must attend three meetings so you will have a great opportunity to see the squadron in action before making a decision.
About Civil Air Patrol
Established in 1941, Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and as such is a member of its Total Force. In its auxiliary role, CAP operates a fleet of 555 single-engine aircraft and 2,250 small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) and performs about 90% of all search and rescue operations within the contiguous United States as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. Often using innovative cellphone forensics and radar analysis software, CAP was credited by the AFRCC with saving 108 lives last year. CAP’s 58,000 members also perform homeland security, disaster relief, and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state, and local agencies. As a nonprofit organization, CAP plays a leading role in aerospace education using national academic standards-based STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education resources. Members also serve as mentors to 24,000 young people participating in CAP’s Cadet Programs.
