ACE BASIN PROMOTIONS HIGHLIGHT CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE

October 3, 2022

ACE Basin Composite Squadron continued to show its drive for excellence with the promotion of ten of its members in the month of September. In total, six cadets and four senior members were acknowledged for their hard work and dedication at a weekly meeting of the Squadron on September 29 in Cottageville.

"Promotions night is one of my favorite nights at the squadron," said Squadron Commander 1st Lt Tim Elson. "It is a chance to celebrate the efforts that have brought our cadets and senior members to that day. Promotions are not automatic; it takes diligence and effort to achieve them. I am thrilled that we can recognize so many very deserving people."

Traditionally, parents are given the privilege of pinning their newly promoted cadets with their new rank. However, this month's ceremony included six of the Squadron's cadets being given the honor of pinning their parents, adding to the significance of event.

Cadets promoted include: C/Amn L. Tallmage, C/A1C K. Schweitzer, C/SrA D. Spears, C/SrA H. Spears, C/SSgt K. Schweitzer, and C/MSgt J. Schweitzer. Senior members promoted include: 2d Lt S. Atherton, 2d Lt. M. Atherton, 2d Lt D. Spears, and 2d Lt K. Spears.

These continued advancements by both cadets and senior members are vital to the Squadron's ability to support the mission of Civil Air Patrol. "A composite squadron can only operate by the efforts of the cadets and senior members," explains Lt Elson. "The further we all progress through the structured learning provided by Civil Air Patrol, the more we can support each other and our community."

ACE Basin Composite Squadron's growth, not only in numbers, but also in achievements and camaraderie, provides a unique opportunity for those considering joining Civil Air Patrol. The Squadron meets weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. in Cottageville. Lt Elson encourages potential members to visit the Squadron and see for themselves, "Even if you don't consider the opportunities like encampment, orientation flights, STEM, cyber and leadership education and service to our community, you would be joining a great group of people that want to see you succeed. And who knows, it could be you that saves a life.
